Assignment #1:
Because 'Response to Intervention,' also known as RTI, is not an actual program, there are many aspects to it. It's basically utilizing student assessments to make decisions and provide further instruction. Reading coaches and remedial teachers are a big part of this. They're very helpful since they spend lots of time in different teacher's classrooms. They can help with making sound decisions for specific students, based on what they see. They're invaluable in the help they can offer struggling readers. They can provide high quality instruction to children who are having difficulty reading, aiding them tremendously. A vital point is that additional instruction is given to students. This has been proven as a tremendous aid for struggling readers. A regular teacher must cater to the needs and abilities of all students in the classroom. However a one-on-one coach can guide the lessons to meet the needs of each specific student at his/her current level.
Assignment #2:
RTI is used for evaluating many different things, including school wide supports, individualized interventions and special education. The first step of the RTI process is screenings. When the screenings are done, and there are proper results to work with, it's time to implement new learning techniques for each specific student involved. Step #3 is monitoring the progress of the students, and keeping track of where they're holding, in terms of their advancement with their intervention. Students who continue to struggle must receive more individualized interventions. Next, based on the progress of students, educators will decide who is eligible for special education services.
